Jesus does indeed have an eye for this blind man crying out for him. He commands—such is Jesus—that the man should be brought to him. Jesus takes ample time for the person whom many overlooked. And when the blind man stands before him, Jesus immediately asks what he can do for him. Truly, he wants to help that man in need. For such is Jesus: he has a heart for people in need.
The blind man quickly knows what he has to say now, Lord, let me recover my sight.
It is an understandable request, and yet his plea is special. He uses the word Kyrie.
In it, he expresses his deep respect for Jesus, acknowledging him as his Lord and Master. To him, Jesus is the promised great Son of David. The blind man has a much better insight than many of his contemporaries. In this, he is an example to them and to us as well.
