Commentary on Luke 18:36-37 (Summary)

Luke 18:36–37 (ESV)

36 And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this meant.

The blind man hears that there is a large group of people nearby. While he cannot see them, his hearing registers the commotion sharply. He wants to know what is going on. And understandably so, for now there is a great chance of receiving alms. The bystanders inform him, telling him that Jesus of Nazareth is close by. This indication is not exactly friendly. This town, from the northern province of Galilee, was not held in high regard by many (John 1:45ff.).
