Jesus' words have an immediate effect. The once-blind man can suddenly see. He also knows immediately what he must do: follow Jesus and praise God. This example is contagious: all who witness this miraculous healing by Jesus pay homage to God.
Thus, Jesus' journey to the temple city, where he will have to suffer much and die (see Luke 18:31–34), takes on a festive quality through the healing of a blind man and the praise of God by many.
43 And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
