What happens when the boil heals?

Leviticus 13:19 (ESV)

19 and in the place of the boil there comes a white swelling or a reddish-white spot, then it shall be shown to the priest.

The first skin condition refers to a “boil” that has healed. The term is specifically used of the sixth plague in Egypt (Exodus 9:9–11). Once the boil has begun healing, complications begin to set in. Either a white swelling or a reddish-white spot appears in place of the boil. “Reddish” adds the idea that the area is still infected.
