How does the symbolism of white as being clean relate to the New Testament believer?

Leviticus 13:17 (ESV)

17 and the priest shall examine him, and if the disease has turned white, then the priest shall pronounce the diseased person clean; he is clean.

Whiteness in the Bible is often associated with purity. In this section of Leviticus, the colour white represents healing and becoming clean. In the Psalms, David uses the colour white to speak of spiritual cleanness (Psalm 51:5, Psalm 51:7). Cleansing in this way can only come through the blood of Jesus, who cleanses the believer from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:7–9).
