Although the word translated ready/delighted
(εὐδοκοῦμεν/eudokoumen) can refer to an objective, unemotional decision, the present context strongly suggests that Paul truly was pleased to share his life with the Thessalonians.1 It was his joy and delight to share the gospel and his life with them.
8 So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.
