The only other reference to this tower is in Nehemiah 12:39, a passage that affirms its proximity to the Sheep Gate (somewhat to the west). To Nehemiah and his contemporaries this tower was obviously a known landmark. We today know nothing more about it.
1 Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests, and they built the Sheep Gate. They consecrated it and set its doors. They consecrated it as far as the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Tower of Hananel.
