What does 2 Samuel 7:1–17 reveal about who God the Father is?
God is sovereign. He determines the course of history, taking his king from pasture fields, providing him with rest from his enemies etc.
God seeks to dwell among his people. The ark was the symbol of his presence in their midst.
God cares for his king and works to empower and bless him in his endeavours.
God speaks. He reveals his will to Nathan and through Nathan to David.
God acts in history. He brought Israel up from Egypt.
God is the Lord of hosts. He commands majestic heavenly armies.
God makes promises to his people, and he acts to keep those promises.
God disciplines his children when they sin.
