Leviticus 25:24 (ESV)

24 And in all the country you possess, you shall allow a redemption of the land.

The principle of redemption provided the original owner of the land with a way to retrieve his property which does not involve waiting for the jubilee. The owner, or his family, has a right to buy back their land.
