How was the value of the land determined?

Leviticus 25:27 (ESV)

27 let him calculate the years since he sold it and pay back the balance to the man to whom he sold it, and then return to his property.

The valued of the land is calculated according to the fair market value by reference to the date of the next jubilee. In this manner, the original owner may redeem his property.
