25 Because he has stretched out his hand against God and defies the Almighty,

What is the cause of the terror and despair of the wicked? It is their proud rebellion against God. This is the root of their sins and of their troubles. Eliphaz is again thinking of Job here. He has vent his rage against God (Job 15:13).
