Why would the purity of clothing be important?

Leviticus 13:48 (ESV)

48 in warp or woof of linen or wool, or in a skin or in anything made of skin,

These instructions clearly indicate that the purity of clothing was not just a practical matter. If it were, there would be no reason to show the priest. Since the priest is involved, the impurity of clothing has implications on the Israelite’s participation in the sanctuary.
