Not content to remain to themselves, the heretics wanted to lure others into their way of thinking and living. Those they sought to entice were new converts, Christian believers who had recently left paganism and were not yet firmly established in the faith.1 Such individuals would have been especially susceptible to their lies. Most likely they promised that one could live for sexual pleasure and material comfort without any fear of judgment.2
