The Lord removes the threat to Daniel and his people by Darius’ order to throw Daniel’s accusers into the lions’ den. This is done in a way that was common among the kings of the Ancient Near East at that time. The accusers along with their families are thrown into the lion’s den and killed immediately. Daniel’s enemies must now experience that their actions have also caused them to become enemies of God. God’s judgment on his enemies implies deliverance for God’s people. The Lord puts each one in his place.
24 And the king commanded, and those men who had maliciously accused Daniel were brought and cast into the den of lions they, their children, and their wives. And before they reached the bottom of the den, the lions overpowered them and broke all their bones in pieces.
