Who were the people who were with Abimelech?

Judges 9:35 (ESV)

35 And Gaal the son of Ebed went out and stood in the entrance of the gate of the city, and Abimelech and the people who were with him rose from the ambush.

This probably refers to the particular contingent that was with Abimelech himself, those relatives to whom he had appealed in the first instance (v. 1), as well as the retainers who had come with him from Ophrah.1
