To what is Israel’s sin quite similar in its history?

Judges 2:2 (ESV)

2 and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done?

Israel had become guilty of the same sin that Achan had committed: “They spared what had been devoted to destruction (see Joshua 7:1, Joshua 7:11–12) and associated with things that had been anathematized; therefore they made themselves liable to divine judgment."1
