7 When it was told to Jotham, he went and stood on top of Mount Gerizim and cried aloud and said to them, “Listen to me, you leaders of Shechem, that God may listen to you.

Mount Gerizim and Mount Ebal were where Israel spoke the blessings and curses of the covenant when they had first entered the land (Deuteronomy 27:12–13). Now, Mount Gerizim will host a curse.
