Who was Obadiah?

Obadiah 1:1 (ESV)

1 The vision of Obadiah.

We do not know who the Obadiah is that received this vision from the Lord. All we know is that he was a servant sent by God with a message to the people of Israel concerning Edom. It is not necessary to know who he is because the focus of the book is on God’s message, not on the bearer of the message.
