To human experience, the only things that scarcely change over the space of centuries are rocks and mountains. Now, though, these rocks and mountains quake greatly (Revelation 6:12). People are so fearful of the judgment of God on their rebellion against him that they would rather have tons of rocks fall on them than face this God (see also Hosea 10:8; Luke 23:30). That is very telling of the degree of the anguish any person not made righteous through Jesus’ blood must feel at meeting God (see Hebrews 12:29).
