Why do the souls have to rest a little longer?

Revelation 6:11 (ESV)

11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.

They should be patient as the Lord determines the right timing for his judgments and vengeance upon those who wronged them. That time period is here described as “little” (see 2 Peter 3:8–9).
