1 Now after this, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, son of Azariah, son of Hilkiah,

Artaxerxes was a Persian king who reigned from 465–424 BC.1 He was the third son of Ahasuerus and Queen Amestris. Ahasuerus was the king who married Esther (Esther 2:16–18).
