How does verse 10 mark a transition in the narrative?

Judges 1:10 (ESV)

10 And Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron (now the name of Hebron was formerly Kiriath-arba), and they defeated Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.

This verse marks a new phase in Judah’s campaign, described in Judges 1:10–20. It is marked especially by the verb to go down, first mentioned in Judges 1:9.
