The restoration the Lord will bring will stretch across the inhabitants of the cities of Judah and those living in rural areas, the farmers and those who wander with their flocks.
This restoration includes everyone and will make the land a place of unity and harmony1. This will come about because the Lord will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.
The Hebrew word rawa, translated as satisfy,
is a metaphor that speaks of reviving a weary, thirsty person by saturating them with water. This probably has in mind weary travellers who have returned from exile, but also no doubt speaks of spiritual renewal2.
24 And Judah and all its cities shall dwell there together, and the farmers and those who wander with their flocks.
