The term corner
would here refer to the (sharp) angle which the wall now took as it turned from its north-south axis to an east-west axis (we have now come to the northern limit of the eastern wall). On this corner
(originally a watchman’s tower?) was an upper chamber,
that is, a room above the main floor (1 Kings 17:19, 1 Kings 17:23).
