Commentary on Job 42:4 (Summary)

Job 42:4 (ESV)

4 ‘Hear, and I will speak; I will question you, and you make it known to me.’

The reason for Job’s new insight is that he has been personally taught by God. After a long silence, God has finally spoken to Job. He spoke not to answer all Job’s questions, but to ask questions of his own (see Job 38:3; Job 40:7). In this way, God taught Job what Job really needed to know.
