For a throne to be established forever means that the kingdom will last forever. This is the Lord’s promise to David; the obedient son will receive a lasting throne (see 1 Kings 8:5).1 The concept of an eternal throne also connects the kingdom of this individual with the kingdom of God (see Psalm 45:6).
