Who was Nathan?

2 Samuel 7:3 (ESV)

3 And Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your heart, for the LORD is with you.”

Nathan was a prophet who advised king David. He would play a significant role in David’s life (see 2 Samuel 12:1–25; 1 Kings 1:11–45) and help to preserve Israel’s history (1 Chronicles 29:29; 2 Chronicles 9:29).1
