What does 2 Samuel 5 reveal about what God the Son does in my place and on my behalf?
God the Son obeys the will of the Father and thereby accomplishes my salvation. I get to share in the blessings which come to the King not because I deserve those blessings, but because I am united to the King by faith. Jesus is the only man who deserves blessing from God. He perfectly obeyed God’s will throughout his life on earth, giving his life also as a sacrifice of atonement to pay for the sins of (do good for) God’s people. As such, he is a king who far surpasses David.
