The most sinful of Israel’s kings will have to face the most powerful prophetic intervention, in the person of Elijah. God’s authoritative revelation would come at such a desperate time in the lives of God’s covenant people. And God would do it again, this time with a perfect servant, in the fullness of time, in the person of his Son, our Lord and Saviour.
