1. Romans 2:5–6 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

How do people store up wrath for themselves on the day of wrath?

Romans 2:5–6 (ESV)

5 But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.

It is for this reason that they store up wrath for themselves as if it were a treasure (Romans 2:5). For it is the time of God’s wrath (see Romans 1:18). Whoever is still being spared by God’s patience in this life only to misuse it, merely increases the wrath stored up by him on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. For on judgment day at the end of world history God will most certainly render to each person according to his works (Romans 2:6).1
