Commentary on Job 37:19 (Summary)

Job 37:19 (ESV)

19 Teach us what we shall say to him; we cannot draw up our case because of darkness.

What would we (but Elihu is referring to Job, of course) be able to say to God in a court case? Our understanding of God’s ways is shrouded in darkness; therefore, we would never be able to draw up a case against him.
