In Romans 12:11 we are commanded: Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
(Romans 12:11). Love and respect are characteristic of the new disposition of Christians (Romans 12:2) and must therefore be continually nourished by the Spirit of Christ and by a willingness to be subservient to Jesus. As Lord and King, Christ can, by his Spirit, inspire in his subjects new virtues such as love, self-sacrifice, and self-denial. At the same time man is also able to counter these sources of energy by means of a fading zeal and decreasing interest. For a renewed life it is vital to keeps yourself open through an expectant attitude with regard to the work of the Spirit and the guidance of the Lord.1
11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
