What can we discern from Abner’s trip to Hebron?

2 Samuel 3:19 (ESV)

19 Abner also spoke to Benjamin. And then Abner went to tell David at Hebron all that Israel and the whole house of Benjamin thought good to do.

Abner’s trip to Hebron makes it clear that both the tribes of Israel as well as the tribe of Benjamin were supportive of his plan to make David king over all Israel. He succeeded in convincing them to support David rather than Ish-bosheth.
