Commentary on Job 35:9 (Summary)

Job 35:9 (ESV)

9 “Because of the multitude of oppressions people cry out; they call for help because of the arm of the mighty.

Job had complained that God does not respond to the cries of the oppressed (Job 24:1–17). This was one of the ways in which he questioned his friends’ belief that wickedness is always punished, and righteousness always rewarded. Elihu now takes up this specific complaint.
