Job 33:9 (ESV)

9 You say, ‘I am pure, without transgression; I am clean, and there is no iniquity in me.

Indeed, Job had repeatedly claimed to be pure and free from guilt (Job 9:21; Job 10:7; Job 13:19–23; Job 16:17; Job 23:7, Job 10:1–12:25; Job 27:5; ?). It is not that he claimed to be sinless (see ?; ?; ?), just as God did not say Job was sinless when he described Job as a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil (?). So far, Elihu finds no problem with Job’s words.
