Acts 12:1–25 (ESV)

1 About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church.

The Bible makes it clear that the Lord commissions his angels to serve and guard his people during their earthly pilgrimage (Psalm 91:11; Matthew 18:10; Hebrews 1:14). There is however no indication in Scripture that every believer is protected by his own special angel which appears after his death. Such an understanding is found in the Jewish Talmud but not in the Bible.1
