Lydda was a town to the north-west of Jerusalem. In the Old Testament it is known as Lod (1 Chronicles 8:12). It was a predominantly Jewish town at the time and was found on the border of the territory given to Ephraim (Joshua 16:5–9) and Dan (Joshua 19:40–48). The presence of believers in Lydda may be the fruit of evangelism done by Philip (see Acts 8:40).1
32 Now as Peter went here and there among them all, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.
