Who is the evil one?

Matthew 6:13 (ESV)

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

The evil one is a reference to Satan, the devil. He encourages lies (Matthew 5:37), takes truth from the heart (Matthew 13:19), and sows evil in the lives of people (Matthew 13:19).1
