Why does Ananias place his hands on Saul?

Acts 9:17 (ESV)

17 So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

The laying on of hands can be used to convey healing (Mark 5:23; Mark 6:5; Luke 4:40; Acts 9:12) and blessing (Matthew 19:13, Matthew 19:15; Mark 10:16; Acts 8:16–19; Acts 19:6) and ordination (Acts 6:6). In this case the focus is healing and blessing.1
