Leviticus 25:55 draws out a parallel between the Exodus and the year of Jubilee. The Hebrew verb brought out
(hôṣē) is used for both the Jubilee as well as the Exodus. Both instances highlight a freedom from slavery. Moreover, God is the cause of both aspects of redemption. Therefore, there will be no perpetual slavery in Israel. Ross points out, “If no one actually owned the land upon which they lived, then certainly no one could own another person either. The land belonged to God, and the people were God's servants because he redeemed them.”1
55 For it is to me that the people of Israel are servants. They are my servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
