As with the preceding chapters of Leviticus, the clause, I am the Lord your God,
signals the close of a sub-unit within the chapter (Leviticus 25:17, Leviticus 25:38, Leviticus 25:55). These units also contain a theological exhortation for observing the law. As such, the chapter may be divided into three main sections:
