The name of the son’s mother was Shelomith. She is a member of the tribe of Dan, which later in Israel's history was to engage in idolatrous practices (see Judges 18:30). The mention of the mother’s name creates literary tension within this passage. God’s name is blasphemed. The son’s name is never mentioned, but his mother’s name is.
