The sixth feast presented in Leviticus 23:1–44 is the Day of Atonement. More literally, the festival may be called the Day of Atonements.
The plural noun Atonements
(kippǔrîm) signifies a superlative. Here the term is used to express the full and complete nature of the atonement sacrifice.
27 “Now on the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves and present a food offering to the LORD.
