After the prescriptions given to the priest to safeguard holiness within the Tabernacle, the book of Leviticus now moves to consider various religious festivals. The clause, I am the Lord,
serves as a unifying phrase in Leviticus 22:1–23:44. As previously observed, this phrase highlights the significance of these laws as well as the obedience expected by the nation. Through the observance of these festivals, the Hebrews were taught that time itself belonged to the Lord. Moreover, as the members of the covenant, they are called to honour God by observing these sacred days and seasons.
