The following pericope deals with the issues of defects that would disqualify an animal from being used in the Israelite sacrificial system. If the priests had to exemplify the holiness of the Lord in their lives, they had to safeguard holiness in worship. This meant care was needed regarding the sacrifices that were made to God.
