  1. Leviticus 19:32 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What behaviour does the Lord encourage on verse 32?

Leviticus 19:32 (ESV)

32 “You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the LORD.

The Lord commands honour and respect for the elderly within Hebrew society. Without it, society declines (Isaiah 3:5). The expression, I am the Lord, underscores the importance of this command.
