Why is the mother mentioned before the father?

Leviticus 19:3 (ESV)

3 Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep my Sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

It is noteworthy that the mother is mentioned before the father. Normally, the mention of the father precedes the mother (Exodus 20:12). This reflects God’s great concern for the mother as the centre of the home.
