What does it mean to be pure in heart?

8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

The idea of being pure in heart is reflected in Psalm 24:3–4. It refers to loyalty, wholehearted service to God, 1 unmixed devotion. 2 Purity of heart is an internal integrity that manifests itself in outward behaviour, not an outward veneer only (as was common among some of the Pharisees). 3
