From what would the escape be?

Hebrews 2:3 (ESV)

3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,

Escape means “to go free,” “to avoid the punishment” (Matthew 3:7). If contempt for the revelation conveyed through angels was punished, how much more if we neglect God’s speaking by the Son. Ignoring and neglecting God’s greatest revelation will not go unpunished.1
