Revealing the thoughts of hearts refers to revealing human nature and need.1 John testifies how the light came into the world but was opposed by those in darkness (John 1:9–11). Jesus will bring a separation between those who honour him as King and those who do not (Psalm 2:1–12; Luke 14:25–27). He will show where our hearts, our deepest seat of thought, really are before God. He will expose those who do not believe God’s Word.2
